Sweet Potatoes...Big Hit!!

She had three days of beans so I was able to give her something new to try - sweet potato. She loooved it, although the first cube she managed to knock out of my hands and it landed all down my front and the floor. Strike one. I defrosted another cube and she ate almost everything. She really enjoyed them. She is definitely not wanting much first thing in the mornings except her bottle, so her first solid meal (really just a taste test at this stage) is around 11am. I just gave her 1 Tbsp of oatmeal as a chaser to her bottle (we will call it dessert) and she was hilarious with it. She made the hmmmmmmmm noise throughout the entire thing along with laughs and lip smacking. She is really getting the hang of this. With anything new the first few spoonfuls she usually tries to lap it up off the spoon like a puppy. Then if she likes the taste it is mouth open and rooting at the spoon....makes it a little tricky to hit the target.

An Easter package came in the mail from her Grandma and Grandpa and her Great Nana Shirley & G.Grandpa Coy from California. Enclosed were very sweet sun hats and other goodies and the most fancy dress that I have ever seen. It is a 12 month size so it is too big for now...I already tried it on her, but you will not believe it when you see it. Lets just say I will not be feeding her green beans in it...hahaha. I tried to get a picture of her in all the hats but it was a no-go as I pulled her out of her jumperoo for the photos and she obviously was not finished jumping...hahahaha. Thank you very much!!

We got her the foam puzzle piece mats for her to play on and I think these are the best thing ever. They are warm and softer than the wood. We also set up her Peek-a-block set she got from Brad and Sharon and the kids for X'mas. She really likes them. Every block has something different to look at. They taste just fabulous to according to Kailey.

We ended up just going to Wal-Mart this afternoon as it was too chilly to go out walking. She was happy to be out and looking at people and reuniting with her favorite aisle...Rubbermaid totes/storage (?). If she really likes someone she sees she will either blow raspberries their direction or let out her squeal/war cry so that is always entertaining. I love taking her and Parker for a walk and this will definitely be part of our daily routine, weather permitting. I will give the other dogs a chance too. hahaha.

Happy Easter!!

Jack surprised Kailey and I with an Easter egg hunt. He had little clues in plastic eggs all over the house with candies that led us to a prize for Kailey (cool finger puppet toys), a CD for me (Gwen Stefani) and a prize for both of us to share....Charlotte's Web gift pack!!!! We wore bunny ears and she wore her little bunny pants, slippers and headband. She was totally pumped watching me running around looking for eggs while in her snugli. Yes, that is Jack wearing ears, I did not super impose them!!! Anything for his little girl's first Easter. hahaha.

First Veggie - Green Beans

This afternoon I made up a batch of green beans for Miss Kailey. I got to use the baby food cubes that Jackie got us. Really cool invention. Individual snap lid cubes that fit in a tray (holds 10). This way I could make smaller portions for the first few days and build the quantity up from there. I couldn't resist...I gave her a starter cube of the green goop - which, by the way, tasted totally nasty in paste form. YUCK!!! I love beans just not a bean smoothie I guess. She looooved them and ate the entire amount (about 1 tbsp I think). This feeding was actually less messy than her oatmeal ones. Here are some pictures that I will definitely pull out for her wedding slide show one day along with her bikini pictures. hahahaaha

Waiting for Summer!!

Since it is too cold to take little K for a walk I decided to play dress up with her. There were two outfits that I really wanted to see her in so here they are. Most of the bikini ones didn't turn out as I was laughing too hard - blurry pictures. She looked adorable in it, and out of the two, she was happiest in her bathing suit.

Thanks again Auntie Heather for picking this very fashionable suit up for me!!

Snugli cuddle/mesh feeder

Here is Kailey in the snugli facing toward me rather than out like she usually is. I was feeling sucky and wanted a cuddle. She was pretty good and snuggled for a while with her blanket, but then she made it clear she wanted to be switched around. :-( Oh well, it was awesome while it lasted.

I introduced Kailey to her mesh feeder that Jackie got for her at the shower. I steamed and let cool a piece of pear and put it in there for her to try. Well she tried to force the entire thing in her mouth as you can see from the picture. She made all sorts of faces and managed to become a drippy sticky mess. Her aim is not the best yet so pear juice ended up in her hair, her ears, eyes and nose. I may hold off on this for a couple of weeks while she masters her hand eye co-ordination. hahaha I can see this being very useful when her gums are really sore.

Kailey and her dog...well one of them.

I just had to share these pictures of Kailey and 'her' dog. I took her to the club for the first time this afternoon. We got there around 12:30 and we didn't leave until 2:15pm!!!! I switched her from the stroller to the snugli and she got a kick out of watching me running Parker over some jumps. She even did a heeling pattern holding Parker's leash. Future dog trainer...maybe. She felt pretty cool and she was very excited when we first got there. Parker was so funny with her holding his leash. He looked up a couple of times and I can only imagine what he was thinking. hahaha. She sits with Parker and rest her little hand on his back. He is good as gold. I tell him no kisses and he will just sit there. Now if only I could talk Zoe into that. She is so in love with her and she just vibrates if I sit her next to Kailey. She holds that Bologna tongue in her mouth as long as she can and I can almost see the sweat dripping from her. In time.

Oatmeal is a HUGE hit!!!

Yahooooo!!!
Little miss K-K had oatmeal for the first time this am and absolutely loooooved it. Lip smacking and everything. I stopped her at around 2 tbsp, but she would have kept going. You have no idea how great it feels to know there is hope. After months of picking away at her bottles to see her this excited over eating I am totally thrilled. It was effortless. Hold up the spoon and...swallow...is it really that easy??? She was licking her lips and and screeching with delight. So, she hates Rice cereal, tolerates Barley and loves oatmeal. Next week I am starting her on veggies so I will keep you posted.

At least she is honest...

Ummmm, yeah...Kailey told me in no uncertain terms that she is not a SOY baby. In fact she took one taste of her last bottle last night and made this very dramatic gagging noise and it was accompanied by a face, that if it wasn't so sad, would be hilarious. I had to quickly whip up a bottle of her old stuff and she drank all 7 oz. I guess I need to scare her every once in a while by giving her the soy beverage....hahaha...kidding. What can I say?? I am out of ideas, but I am really going to make an effort to ease up on the situation. I am letting her drink what she wants and then giving her a total time out so she can burp and give herself a break. If she wants more then great and if not we will make it up in the next bottle. Apparently a bottle should take about 30 min to finish and she is managing that with a 15-20 min break in between. She is a power eater and I think she is giving herself way too much gas. She drank 4 0z in three minutes today!!! This is still the slow flowing newborn nipple too. Man can she suck 'er back when she wants to. I am also trying the same formula sans Omegas just on the off chance she has some sort of intolerance to that. The addition of DHA and AHA in infant formula is very new so there is not a lot of reading on it ref. side effects and sensitivities. I know it taste a whole lot different....yes...I tried it and I have tried all her formula to this point. I want to know what she is tasting and I feel her pain on some of those choices that's for sure. YUCK!!!

The outfit in the picture is from Roots and I looove it. It is so nice and stretchy for her. Easy to put on and should last a while (fingers crossed).

Today I took some time out for me!!! Imagine that?! I met up with Jackie for coffee and then went to the mall to help her pick out an outfit for her step daughter's Grad. That then turned into lunch!!! I was gone for 5 hours and got a break from 2 feedings and what a difference that made. I had a blast, I always do when we get together though. When I came home Miss K was in her snugli with Jack watching the Muppets and having a great time. When she took her nap I took little Parker to the club for some training as I am signed up for classes again and I am not sure what furball to take. He did great and it is nice to have another focus other than formula.

She is really quick at rolling over now...as quick as I put her on her tummy she is over. She is getting very strong upper body wise and with the right traction she is able to pull herself forward. My plan is to go to Wally World and pick up some of those rubber puzzle piece mats and set them up in the living room so she can practice her athletics and this will be a ton easier on her little body. I love wood floor but they are not exactly conducive to learning to crawl, sit and roll. Poor thing. They also should be easy to keep clean. I find with all this movement she is more likely to spit up a little bit. She gets to try oatmeal tomorrow...yay. I picked some up today along with a couple of sippy cups with the two handles. I know she is going to love them.
Anyway...fingers are falling off so I will say goodnight. :-)
