I treated myself today!

I went and got a haircut and color. I now know the importance of taking the time to look after yourself. I feel great...refreshed. You should have seen the pile of hair laying on the floor. I was tempted to bag it and make Kailey a nice wig out of it...hahaha. I am just dying to put some hair accessories on her...little pink bows and such.

She is waving bye bye all the time now and waves whenever we enter a new room in the house. She is also clapping whenever she gets one of her puffs in her mouth. Her accuracy has improved greatly so there is a ton of clapping happening.

Beach Baby

We decided to try Kailey at the beach for the first time. Since it has been sooooo hot we thought maybe the lake temperature would be warm enough for Kailey's first swim. It felt so good to cool off. She wasn't phased by the cooler temperature at all. She was pretty excited to be there and she especially loved her lobster boat floating thing. It has a little area for toys in the front, but she thought it was amazing to just kick and feel the waves. She stayed out there for way longer than we thought so it was lucky that I brought along a bottle. She happily drank the entire bottle down while watching Daddy swimming around. This was such a cool experience for all of us and to think that this beach is only a 10 min. drive from our house. We were at the Provincial Beach and I was glad we decided to go there as there was a ton more shade than we would have had at the big sandy Kinosoo beach in town.

We arrive...that is a biiiig bath tub Mom!
Time to test the temp.....not bad.

Check out my lobster boat!!!!

Time for a snack...did I get any on me?

Home Time...time to get dressed.

Nan's visit

My Mom came out for a couple of days and here are some of my favorite pictures. We had a blast. We took her shopping a few times, on a very hot walk to the park, to the Woof Inn and went for coffee at Tim Horton's where she thought it was pretty cool to sit and gab and munch away at some snacks while we drank our ice caps.

Kailey does BP's

I thought, what the heck, let's go to Boston Pizza for an early supper today. It was about 3 o'clock so I knew it wouldn't be too crazy busy. I came armed with the following: bottle, sippy of water, jar of peach/oatmeal, banana, container of puffed wheat snacks and an assortment of toys. This is really the first time taking Kailey to a sit down restaurant since being out of her bucket. She loved the idea of sitting in a high chair that wasn't hers. She was very interested in the decor (neon lights and ceiling fans are her thing apparently). She was so proud to sit there and munch away at her finger foods while watching all the action. When our meals came she really acted hungry and she ate the entire jar of baby food, had some banana chunks, some shredded carrot and a taste of cooked egg yolk off my plate. (I had the pecan chicken salad) She was good as gold and we are both so impressed. We were only there for a little over an hour but for her to sit in the chair the entire time and entertain herself was still impressive to me. We will definitely do this more often now.

We then took her to her favorite place - Wal-Mart to pick up some new bath toys. She is out of her kid tub and is having her baths in the big tub so we needed to get her some more toys to play with. The last few trips, I have taken her down the obnoxious singing toy aisle and I noticed the last few times she really was excited with these dancing turtle toys. The last time I turned it on she started a full body dance routine in the stroller that I thought was a fluke. We took her down the aisle and she saw the toy and her eyes lit up and BOOM, she was in full body dance mode. She gets her arms waving, legs kicking, rocks back and forth on her booty and rolls her eyes back and shakes her head with this massive smile (sticks her bottom jaw out and exposes her teeth). This is not a fluke!! We tried this 5 times throughout the shopping trip. The turtle is sporting an Afro, gold chains and a track suit and sings...ready for this? 'Get down on it'...lovely. She looks like a fish out of water and it brought tears to our eyes we were laughing so hard. SOOOOO FUNNY!!!

She has been getting bored with some of the food lately so I made a batch of mixed fruit (peaches, honey dew, cantaloupe, strawberries, blueberries and banana), yogurt and oatmeal and she LOOOOVES it. Next up, I will make a chicken, carrot and cheddar mashed potato meal for her. I am also going to give broccoli and cauliflower a try. One thing is for sure...she is making me eat a whole lot better now. She loved her chunks of cantaloupe today. Her big thing right now is to eat when we are eating.

Zoe and K-Bear = Friends for life!!!

Hard to keep Zoe from kissing Kailey
Jackie and Frasier join us on our walk!

Lovin' the sweet potatoes!

She had fun eating lunch the other day. She is into sticking her nose into the spoon of food for whatever reason. She also has decided that pureed meat is nasty so that is lovely considering I have enough turkey and chicken to last a month in the freezer. She likes her meat shredded/chopped up into bits and then she will eat everything. She is really liking the idea of finger foods. Her lunch yesterday consisted of bits of chicken, banana, mild cheddar and some beans in a jar. She likes the idea of chewing and her second tooth is finally catching up to her other bottom one so maybe that will help. She makes some really interesting faces now - like an old man without his dentures in. I guess her teeth feel weird to her so she is exploring.

I learned another lesson. Do not leave the bags of groceries in arms reach (I thought they were out of reach, but she has these elastic superpower arms apparently). She was very quiet so I looked in the rear view mirror at her in her and she was hugging a loaf of fresh bread from the bakery like it was a stuffed animal. She then proceeded to squish the entire loaf while making these deep throaty laughs. There was nothing I could do but watch my nice loaf be destroyed while I drove on.

Bath Time

This tub quacks too!! She thought it was pretty cool. Very much a novelty item though, as it is too big to store and I am not going to blow it up every time. It really freaked Miss Zoe out and she was ready to rescue Kailey. As you can see Kailey thought it all was pretty amusing. :-)

Bikini Bottom!

I was so thrilled to find a pool just like Cousin/Nephew Robbie's. Once she got used to the water temperature being cooler than her bath water she was happy to splash around and play with the inflatable toys. She got to wear her cute bikini, sans diaper so I had to get some pictures. We keep it set up in the living room for now (until the novelty wears out) so she has a safe place to play with her toys and she is pretty proud of herself as you can see. She can crawl out of it though so we are close by.

Miss K was getting up far too early for my liking for about a week and I read online that if you put babies to bed too late, unlike adults, they will likely get up earlier due to over-stimulation throughout the day. It is actually true - within reason. I pushed her bedtime back by an hour and a half and she is back sleeping approx. 11 hours straight...phew. Also...no naps after 4pm. She is changing things up on me to keep it interesting I guess. hahaha. I do like having some 'me time' at the end of the day so I am liking this new routine She is really into 'finger foods' right now. She loves banana chunks, pear, watermelon and she just tried steamed baby carrots and whole wheat noodles. She is a little off in her aim when she feeds herself so the dogs get a treat and I get witness a scene like you would see from an National Geographic episode.

Look at her toupee/yamika of hair!
She has a ton of hair, but only in one spot.

Look at her looong legs!!!

Walker toy & Kailey has a new friend!!!

Finally...Kailey was happy to sit on Brad's lap and didn't play strange at all with him. For whatever reason she chose to be scared of him, but she has changed her mind and now loves him. She is definitely coming around with accepting people so maybe this was a stage, but if she is going to be cautious with people that is A-Ok with me too. She spent two hours at Jackie's shop (The Woof Inn) and was having a blast 'walking' around, laughing and eating some flavored puffs. She is so much fun to be around and I love taking her everywhere. She is eating some new things like banana chopped up in bits, watermelon chunks, puffed wheat, Nutrio's and she is having yogurt with fruit and oatmeal twice a day. Turkey was a hit - as in plain old turkey breast without seasoning pureed to a stringy soupy mess...sounds lovely hey?!

We picked up a little walker/car combo for her to play with tonight at Wal-Mart. She totally loves when it is in the car position.

Loves to stand!

Would you believe that I have three phone books under the legs of the Jumperoo so she can still use it? She is too tall for it now as they say that as soon as their foot is flat on the ground it can cause some joint damage and if you have seen the way she jumps this could be an issue. She is still within the weight limits and is still very much 'in love' with this thing so we had to come up with a solution. hahaha. So this should work for the next month or two I am hoping. My goal today is to find a walker thingy as she likes to stand up and constantly wants to be walked around the house. My back is killing me. She doesn't have the balance she needs to attempt this on her own, but I think she would find it really cool to push something around the house. She will pull her hand out of mine and think she can just walk off into the sunset....ouch. She is quick that's for sure. If the Diaper Champ had wheels this would be perfect apparently. hahaha.

Happy Canada Day!!!

This weekend I worked the Dog Show (as in people running around in a circle with their dog on display so some 'expert' can pick a dog that is closest to the breed 'Standard' and best represents the breed. The breed winners are put in group - working, herding..ect and then the group winners are in the ring to try to win the coveted Best In Show.) Did I bore you or confuse you yet? I got to play with some very sweet Sheltie puppies and some other cute dogs. This meant Jack was on K-Bear duty Friday, Saturday and this afternoon. They spent a ton of time together so that was excellent for both of them. She was one happy little girl as Daddy spoiled her with a movie, a new hat and a cute pair of shades. Kailey loves Jack's red Angels hat and he just happen to find a little red hat that says 'little angel' on it!! TOO PERFECT. Jack brought her to see me yesterday and she was very excited to see all the dogs. She got a ton of attention and people were touching her like crazy but as long as she was watching the dogs she was very much accepting of all the thigh rubs, cheek squeezing and hand holding. I really missed her so I am glad the show is over.
