Some new moves...

On a lighter note...

What is with that one butt cheek? It always escapes...ALWAYS.
This sweet little swim suit was given to her by her 'Auntie' Jackie who I miss terribly. :-( If you are reading this....just know I think of you always and hope you are doing well in Nova Scotia (porker'ville....hahaha).

A mixed bag...

I took these pictures this morning. Kailey and I have been taking the dogs (all but Marley) out for a free run in some fields close by and she loves it. She likes to pick wild flowers and always ends up bringing some treasures home. We have been going out around 9:30am to avoid the major heat of the day. I slather her in spf 50 and she is wearing a UV shirt...great idea since it is very light weight but also protects her. These are the times that I treasure the most with her. She is in her element...dogs...outdoors...flowers...butterflies. She is teaching me to appreciate the small things that we take for granted on a daily basis.

There...now on for something that really will 'curl your hair'. As many of you know, our new job description involves travel and Jack seems to always be away. New Mexico, Florida, San Diego and now for the gut wrencher...Hawaii...that's right folks he is in this tropical paradise for almost 6 weeks with nothing, or not much to do. They arrived Thursday and they will not be even asked to report for duty until Wednesday the earliest. Even if the pods arrive there will only be 4....WOW....can you say perk trip? Am I bitter? Lets see here....I am busting my butt doing the yard work, looking after a ton of hairy critters, working, tending to all of the K's needs all while Jack is soaking up the rays on a sandy beach in Paradise. Well folks...your tax dollars are being put to great use here. Kailey finally gets a routine with the both of us and he is gone again. She is calling for him and thought that he was hiding out in the Subaru parked on the driveway. I actually had to pull her out of her car seat and show her he wasn't hiding in there. Awwww. It broke my heart. While I adore the one on one time I have with Kailey I am saddened by the fact that Jack is missing out on so much of her life. He is off to Iceland in September for 3 weeks and who knows where to next. 'It is for work'...so what, at the end of the day your soft place to land should be with your family not at some fancy Hotel.
I had to vent. Not that I am having a hard/stressful time at all being on my own, it is the fact that I am getting so used to not having a Hubby around that it is disturbs me. I treasure every moment with my daughter and I cannot imagine missing such big chunks of time. When I think about our troops that are fighting the war and away from their families I have a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach....this is a deep topic, one for another time.

18 mth - really almost 20 mth appointment stats.

She is TALL...go figure. So many people think that she is over 2 years old. hahaha. She is a gab machine and will fixate on some phrases like, 'Are you cold?'...over and over and over again she will ask this question until you are ready to pull your hair out. 'No, I am not cold.' hahaha.
height: 3' 1/4" - as in over three feet!!! - 99th percentile
weight: 28.7 lbs - 90th percentile
head: I forget the measurement, but she is in the 92nd percentile.

'training Marley to sit'...old flooring...

Busy Busy...trees and flooring.

After a solid week of nothing but landscaping (planted 4 trees, 3 shrubs, 4 roses bushes, annuals and made several new planters), I had a bright idea to change the flooring in the entry and kitchen area. Phew....it looks amazing. Jack did a great job, better than when we hired professionals to do the upper level! As soon as Kailey went to bed (around 7:30pm) I kicked into high gear and we did the flooring together until 1am for two nights in a row. It was a big job, they are always bigger than anticipated. We still have the finishing work to do like paint and install the new baseboards and tile under the cupboards, but I wanted to share some pictures so you all can see what a difference it made. They are slate 15" x15" laminate tile that are tough as heck (already dropped a few things). They have a 25 year warranty and are waterproof. Looooove them. I will post some pictures the yard and the major changes there when the weather is better and the lawn is cut ;-). Kailey really tried to help and took it upon herself to remove all the spacers and put them in a pile for us...thanks Kailey...hahaha.

Bunny Face.

If you ask Kailey what a bunny 'does' she wiggles her nose...it is really cute. Whenever she sees a bunny in a book or her stuffed toy she does the face. As much as she was determined to wear the infamous bike helmet to the mall I vetoed the idea and traded her for the shades which she kept on the entire outing.

I thought this one was funny....'MOM...get over heeeeere!!!'

Sleepy Baby

THEN...

I was trying to let her nap for as long as possible but I had an appointment to get to so I actually was able to dress her while she was sleeping!!! Too funny. When it came time to change her diaper I think she liked the feeling of being naked and she rolled herself into the fetal position and snuggled in more. She finally woke up when I was trying to do up her jeans. She thought this was great and started giggling. Phew...they say never wake a sleeping baby but so far she has been good about it.

Girl Power!!!

This weekend my Dad, Diane and little Ryley come out for a visit. The girls hit it off right away. What fun it was to watch them interact, share toys and play their little hearts out. We went to the beach where they had ice cream, had fun in the park and walked/ran on the beach. The sand table we have on our deck ended up being a real hit as they spent most of the day making creations. What fun!!! They brought Kailey a bike helmet that she latched onto and wouldn't take off. She loves it!! On our way to the beach I took it off and I looked in the rear view mirror and she had it on...again. Most of the pictures she is sporting this huge melon protector.
